Doyald Young

I have meet Doyald a couple of times here at City College some fourteen years ago. He was such a gental soul who can create the most beautiful letters you have ever seen. He is kind, soft spoken and very talented at letter making! He is very inspiring and memorizing as he speaks about the art of letter making. He describes each part of the letter as if he were the conductor of an orchestra, how each stroke connects the lines creating harmony like Beethoven. He is a classic at his niche and will be missed by many. I’m so honored that I was able to meet and talk with Doyald before he passed.

Dave’s give away for me was his philosophy that you are indispensable and that you must have an attitude of gratitude. He is very personable and his studio is welcoming. The studio incompasses two design firms in one space. His wife is an exterior designer while Dave is a graphic designer. Dave emphasized the need for a niche in whatever you do best.
